One of the space efficient widgets for bloggers is of course a multi-tabbed widget, which saves a lot of precious space for any blog. You can use it for merging number of gadgets in one widget.
Instead of showing basic widgets like Popular posts, Archives, Tags , Recent Posts etc separately, you can merge them all in one multi-tabbed widget to save space.

See my side bar to see how it looks.

In other methods you have to upload some .css and/or javascript (.js) files to some other hosting server and then add that link of the script back to your blog. FYI, this increases page load time.

So Unlike other methods that you have seen of any multi-tabbed widget, this method has all the css/scripts in your own blog's template, thus reducing page load time noticeably.

Installation has three parts;

1. First part contains css/javascript code installation in template.
2. Second part explains installation of multi-tabbed widget in the template for your sidebar.
3. Third one is simple and tells adding the main gadgets from the layout section in the multi tab widget.

Part 1 - Installating css/script in Template

1. Navigate to Edit HTML pag.

Before saving, don't forget to make required changes.

- Text in red are the titles of the tabs, Replace them with the Titles that you want to give to each tab respectively.

8. After making required changes, Preview the template.

5. If you can see the multi-tabbed widget in your blog then Hit Save Button.
Double check for code you copied/pasted and their exact places if any error comes up while saving.

Part 3 - Adding the gadets in the Multi-Tabbed Widget

This part is fairly easy. After installing css/javascript part in the template save the template and open "Layout" page of your blog. You'll see "Add a gadget" section under each (embedded) tab of the multi-tabbed widget. Click Tab Titles one by one and Click "Add a gadget" under it, to add gadget of your choice under each tab.

CUSTOMIZATION

- The widget automatically adjusts its width wherever it is placed.
- If you want to change the width of the tabs, change width size in blue in css code of Part 1.
- You can reduce or add as many tabs as you want in the widget.

To Remove a Tab : [+/-]

1. Remove line defining tab four in the end.

But this is how reducing page load strategy works - putting all the scripts inside template's own body.

And If you have your own hosting then you may put the code in a separate .js file.

If you frequently search files and folders in your windows powered PC, then you must know the step by step process ;)

If you are XP user, you open the windows explorer, click search button, An annoying little animated character shows up asking "what do you want to search", you select the required option, then type in the file name,hit the search button again.
Even if you have the Fastest PC of all, it takes a while to retrieve the files you search for!!
No doubt Its bit quicker in Windows Vista & onwards, but still, it takes few seconds!

But Now I've found "Everything". A fantastic little searching utility to help you search the files or folders,as you type,with a single click, right from your desktop !!

Everything is a Freeware Desktop Searching utility, that locates files and folders by filenames instantly for Windows PC.
Unlike Windows search "Everything" displays every file and folder on your computer.

Yes, there are dozens of searching softwares available on net.
Like;
Google Desktop search.
Microsoft's Windows Search (For Windows XP and earlier)
Copernic Desktop Search.
...and lot of others like these.

But Believe me I've used them all, and found none of them as impressive as "Everything".

In "Features List" of above mentioned desktop searching tools,you will see everything except their "Indexing time" (the time they take to index all the files/folders of your system).
Let me tell you... they take several hours and even days, depending on the numbers of files and size of hard drive.

But believe it or not, "Everything" indexes all your file/folders as soon as you open it!
Yes It shocked me too!
It took about 6-8 seconds to index my 80 GB hard drive :-D

Take a look at the size of its database file, it created on my PC.

This tiny desktop searcher takes very few space in memory.
In my 80 GB case,Its taking just 4MB! ;)

After quick indexing, it places itself in taskbar from where it can be accessed with a double click.

And shows ALL of the files and folders on the main window, including the system files and the hidden files.

If you dont want the search results to be applied on the hidden or system files, simply goto the options>Exclude and Check the options to your needs.
User defined files/folder can also be added to the exclusion list.

You can also use Wild cards, just like in traditional windows searching.

After using and observing the features, I concluded these results:

Positives:
- Instant Single Click Searching.
- Very Low on Resources.
- Searches real time the files changing.
- Updates its database on every system restart.
- Supports all Windows Version, including Windows 7.
- Searching possible on Remote Systems.

Negatives:
- Unlike Google Desktop Search, it Searches only Files names, not the content of the files.
- Works only on NTFS Drives.

If your search results is showing nothing or excluding files of any of your partitions, then it means your whole hard drive or a specific partition is not on NTFS.
But Dont worry! you can change the file system to NTFS, without the loss of data with a simple command.

To convert an existing FAT or FAT32 volume to NTFS, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, Click RUN, type cmd, press OK.

2. At the command prompt, type the following, where drive letter is the drive that you want to convert:
convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs

For example, type the following command to convert drive E to NTFS:

convert e: /fs:ntfs

Note: If the operating system is on the drive that you are converting, you will be prompted to schedule the task when you restart the computer because the conversion cannot be completed while the operating system is running. When you are prompted, click YES.

3. When you receive the following message at the command prompt, type the volume label of the drive that you are converting, and then press ENTER:

The type of the file system is FAT.
Enter the current volume label for drive drive letter:

4. When the conversion to NTFS is complete, you receive the following message at the command prompt:
Conversion complete

5. Quit the command prompt.

After conversion to NTFS, you will have to manually include that partition(s) to "Everything's" database.
Goto Options>Volumes>
Select the drive(s) that is recently converted to NTFS
and Check "Check media" & "Enable USN Journal Logging" check boxes.

Thats it!.. from now on, files on newly converted partition(s) will also be included in search results.

After few moments, it'll show you the list of recent posts of your blog on the same pop-up screen. If it doesn't then re-check the Feed URL you inserted for errors.
If your blog is newly created and you haven't posted anything yet, then this can be the second reason to not showing any post.

If you are using "Expandable Post Summaries" in your site, and your home page shows minimum 5 posts, then I recommend not to use this "Recent Post" widget, there will be no use of this widget as it'll be waste of space on your home page.

Unlike the Recent Post widget, this widget shows your most popular posts in terms of:

If you install this widget, then the posts (max. 5) with the most number of comments by readers will be shown by this widget.

If you are submitting your site to postrank first time, then it'll tell you that "We haven't seen your site before".
Now you leave your email address there, so that they can email you as soon as they index your site's feed.
It usually takes a day to their email to arrive in your inbox.

3. Click the link given in the email to see your site's feed indexed by postrank.

4. Now after checking your feed, Come back here at this page and click this link:

http://www.postrank.com/publishers/customize

Follow the steps given in that page, customize and create your "Top Post" widget.
You can use "Quick Install" to install the widget you've customized, directly to your blog (step 3 given on that page) .

Or if you choose to manually install the widget, you have to copy the code given at bottom of that page and follow these steps to manually install the widget:

1. Go to 'Layout" of your blog.

3. "Preview" the template first, DON'T save at this point. If Preview window shows your blog fine and with the "Related Posts" widget after every post, then it means, everything went perfect.
Otherwise it'll show an error, and prompt you to remove it first before saving.

Common mistakes we do is incomplete Copying/Pasting the code.
Make sure you copied everything carefully and pasted it in right places, defined above.

4. If preview shows everything fine, then you can SAVE the template :-)

In most of the blogs you'll find "Contact us" missing!!
This is a great negative point for that site/blog.

This makes your blog more "non professional". Think that this is the only way your readers/commentators/sponsors can contact you.

If you just put your email address exposed on your site, this makes your email inbox vulnerable to spam!!
So inserting a "contact us" page/link/widget in your site keep you protected from unwanted junk emails.

Unfortunately, blogger.com doesn't offer anything like this.
So we have to go and search for some other free services to do this for us.

Luckily, Kontactr provides us free, great and probably the easiest way to use Contact-Form Service.

All you need to do is sign up for a free account and anyone who wants to contact you, will be able to email you directly from your site.

This widget shows that, WHO, FROM WHERE coming on your site and ON WHICH TOPIC!!

Live traffic widget helps you to recognize that which one of your topics of your blog are getting popular, from which country people are coming the most and from which site they are coming or which search engine is helping you to driving traffic to your blog.

Its function is just to show you these stats; it actually doesn't help you to increase traffic to your blog.

Again blogger.com doesn't have any widget like this but there are many other free services you can use.

This means messages sent by Yahoo! Ping box will be received on your Yahoo! messenger on your desktop... :)
